GutterSkull reviewed by Maximum Rocknroll

GutterSkull reviewed on Maximum Rocknroll site. I grow up with their old paper zines. Cool review;

Croatia’s GUTTERSKULL does grimy, blackened punk powered by raw D-beat banging. On this demo, all fourteen songs have the same beat, most of them are between thirty seconds and one minute long, and they’re all covered with raspy black metal whispers. These songs could be the battle hymns of some bizarre type of evil war witches. Straight sinister depravity. I find the dead drums of the funeral march-style opening to “Final Death Raid” to be a bit addictive, craving them as I sip my morning coffee on the way to work.

Talog "Vladavina Vampira" at The Moldy Crypt's Top 20 Dungeon Synth Releases Of 2018

"Deep in the frosty mist of the Balkans, crawling in the pitch blackness of full dark, comes the pale horrific shape that is Talog. Fermenting in the bowels of the deepest crypt, Talog created the grim vampyric masterpiece Vladavina Vampira. This release of twin 15-minute monolith tracks creates a soundscape that will chill the marrow in your bones, wafting the stench of ancient undying horror through caverns of deep dungeon waves and drones. This introspective release calls on the furthest edges of dungeon synth, scraping along at the pace of dark ambient with minimal melody entirely absent of rhythm. This creates an incredibly gloomy atmosphere perfect for deep meditation and sleeping in cold tombs. I have yet to hear a dungeon synth act as effective as Talog in creating such a numbing sense of conscious lucidity. Vladavina Vampira is a must-play for fans of any type of vampyric dungeon synth or black minimalist ambience. Over the 30 minutes of the album, the listener is guided through the isolated paths of an ancient Balkan forest, down the dim corridors of an abandoned castle, past massive oak doors where rats feed on their dead and the whispers of tormented ghosts linger ever-present at the nape of your neck."

Thanx to Russian Helheim / VK for support

Great comment on Tenebrositas part for the upcoming split with Xerión. Google translation is not perfect but here we go;

"Wander through the woods, look for the shadow of the past, the seeds of the present and the shoots of the future. To be in the center of the universe and not lose touch with yourself. A fresh release from representatives of the Croatian metal scene. The release consists of a piercing composition filled with those wonderful black metal chips for which we like this genre so much: anxious and lyrical tremolo, combinations of minor chords and dissonances, blast beats and muffled shrike and scream that sound like guitar parts."

Nuclear Altar review on Crucified Freedom

Thanx to Velach;

NUCLEAR ALTAR - Mankind in Decline (tape) [2017]

just few weeks after publishing Nuclear Altar's second demo online on bandcamp I got it by the post mail in its officially release form as a tape.. even though I listened this monster countless times before I got the tape, now the whole feeling is somehow better and complete..
demo was recorded in April this year and the best thing about it is the way it was recorded, apparently on just one microphone and at once and the whole material sounds in that good old primitive and raw way which is the thing that I miss the most on current recordings of nowadays hc punk and crust bands.. and when you see cover which is made in cut and paste style the whole thing just radiates real diy spirit..
there are all together 14 tracks (including some already heard on 1st demo and Dislike, Hellkrusher and U.B.R. covers) in something different sound as it was on "Blessed Ruins".. well I could easily write a book about bands from Požega changing their sound and members so that's the case here as well.. some time after releasing the 1st demo Neno left the band so Gera (previously on bass) take the drums and Nani (ex Fight Back, Hellback...) joined the band as a new vocalist, and Kktz this time sticks to guitar most of the time, doing just some back vocals in few tracks.. of course all that affected on a new sound, as well in speed (new drummer) and in something different guitar sound and riffs similar as in guitarist's other crust/black metal project Gutterskull and of course a new vocals which are now female.. but despite all that they managed to keep this darkness and filth which this band was recognizable for before and to deliver us some serious doze of great raw hardcore punk, still in d-beat style maybe with some more metal/doom influences, all played in old school way without any unnecessary complications.. so few songs are something slower as usual like Infernal Disappearance, Mankind in Decline, Slavonian Funeral, but there are also some real d-beat attacks which are my favorites like Constant Distruction, Legacies of Death, End of Illusion and Ghostblood Rituals.. from other I would like to point out the Dislike cover Victims of Progress which is great and was one of my favorites songs of Dislike.. all lyrics are on English written by Kktz in already familiar minimalistic but strong and powerful style and dark and full of despair tone, and are spited out through angry Nani's vocals..
in short, if you want to know how the apocalypse would sound from it's crushing and devastating beginning to slow and agonized end and death of mankind and nature - listen to this..
beside really nice artwork, xerox cover consists of band pictures and lyrics, all songs are recorded on both side of the tape, also you get sticker with it and the whole thing is released in only 80 pieces so hurry up if you wanna get yourself a copy.. it's available from Olden Sonorities distro for 20 kn / 3 euros.

Nuclear Altar - Mankind In Decline - review from Kraykulla WebZine

If you enjoy soundtrack for apocalypse you came to the right place. Here is the new output by Nuclear Altar, band from the town Požega, Croatia. Požega used to be fertile scene with many bands/projects varying from metal, across crust punk and hardcore. Nowadays there are not many bands left, but some of the stubborn individuals still persist in creating beautiful underground noise. This incarnation of the band consists of two guys(Kktz and Gera) and one girl(Nani). The people involved in this band were creating noise in a few dozen bands/projects and I will name just a few like Antitude, Bad Justice, Fight Back, Nonsense, Hell Back, Masakrist…There are 13 songs on this album including some covers by Hellkrusher, Dislike and UBR. The music is excellent dirty and raw hardcore punk with angry vocals , d-beat and metal influences. The way that the album is recorded and sounds reminds me on golden age of Croatian hardcore punk scene in the 90-ies. There is some unbreakable and wild diy spirit lurking over this album, maybe that is why I love it so much. This album is not for modern hardcore thrill seekers, but true underground dwellers will love it.
